Steven James Carlson is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He was  born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. After graduating from Mcnally-Smith college of music in 2006, he was hired to play guitar for band The J Project (SLR Records/Minneapolis). He then co-founded regionally touring country-rock band The Mason Dixons. In 2008 he co-founded rock band Doctor Salty, which he went on to own, book, and manage. He then shifted focus to writing, recording, and performing original music. In September of 2013, Steven released his first album as an artist, "The Foundation" by Steven James and The Revival. 

Steven currently resides in Austin, TX, where he plays guitar with multiple bands and produces music out of his studio "The Swamp Studio."
